It shone, pale as bone,

And I thought to myself how the moon,

On my heart’s true delight
And the reef where her body was strewn.
Man, Grim Fandango is just one of those perfect things. It seamlessly blends South American mythology and imagery, neo-noir, humor, and drama, all pulled together with a wonderful story and memorable, three-dimensional characters.
As a game, I feel that the puzzles were set up extremely well, with multiple paths being rewarded (except for the damn anchor puzzle). The only flaw I can find is in the fact that some camera angles just aren’t intuitive for certain puzzles.
I’m sorry that I’m raving, but this piece of concept art just brought back a flood of goodtime memories. Here’s to you, Mr. Calavera.
This is only making me more excited for Double Fine’s new adventure game project.
